Press Release – Hootsuite Campaign Goes National

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE February 25, 2026

PRESSURE ON HOOTSUITE GOES NATIONAL AS TORONTO’S MIGRANT WORKERS ALLIANCE FOR CHANGE ANNOUNCES ACTION AT HOOTSUITE OFFICES

Vancouver campaign against Hootsuite’s ICE contract spreads to Toronto

VANCOUVER, BC — After multiple demonstrations at Hootsuite’s Vancouver headquarters and continued silence from the company, pressure is going national. The Migrant Workers Alliance for Change (MWAC) has announced a die-in and rally at Hootsuite’s Toronto offices on Thursday, February 26th at noon (ET), demanding that Canadian companies stop enabling ICE’s raids, detention camps, and killings in the United States.

Hootsuite signed a deal with ICE worth up to US$2.8 million to provide social media monitoring and surveillance tools, making the Vancouver-founded company a direct enabler of Trump’s deportation machine. At least six people died in ICE custody in January 2026 alone making it the highest annual death toll since 2004. Participants will read aloud the names of people who died in ICE and Canadian CBSA custody, then lie down in silence.

The action also targets fellow Canadian companies GardaWorld, which is staffing “Alligator Alcatraz” and cleared to bid up to US$138 million in further ICE contracts, and Roshel, which supplied 20 armoured vehicles to ICE worth roughly C$10 million.

“Hootsuite can’t hide behind silence when organizers from Vancouver to Toronto are standing up and saying the same thing: drop ICE,” said Kalifi Ferretti-Gallon, Founder of Democracy Rising.

The action also comes as the Senate advances Bill C-12 – which would give the Canadian government sweeping powers to cancel immigration status en masse and deny refugees a fair hearing – toward a final vote expected in March.

Democracy Rising has organized multiple demonstrations at Hootsuite’s Vancouver headquarters since January, drawing national attention in both Canada and the United States. Despite nearly two months of sustained pressure, Hootsuite has not responded. A third Vancouver action is planned for March 28th.

The Toronto action is part of a broader movement coordinated through the Canadian Anti-ICE Network, a growing coalition spanning Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, and Calgary.
